I love Flickr with all my heart. It is one of the few websites that I pay money to use.

I loved it almost instantly and now I am left hanging on the Flickr developers every improvement and addition.

There is just one tiny little thing that is really starting to get on my nerves.

This:
the problem with Flickr

What is ‘new’ here? NOTHING.

I have looked at this comment from Andrew now 5 times. And I guess that yes, the photo is kinda trippy. But this observation was only new the first time I read it.

Nearly every time I go back to Flickr I see this joy-inducing little ‘new’ image. But like an eight-year-old child discovering that Santa is no more than their slightly tipsy father clumsily wandering around their room, I soon feel a sense of betrayal.

The most annoying thing is that I will continue to use Flickr in spite of this problem, glossing over it as if it is nothing. It is like dating the hottest girl, who is totally awesome, but she has a really annoying laugh. So instead of dumping her you just decide not to be funny anymore. Your friends are all like “dude, did you hear her laugh?” and you reply, “yeah, it’s not so bad, and besides, have you seen her rack?”

I want to stare at your great rack and make you laugh simultaneously, so please Flickr, fix it.

Moreover, sometimes it doesn’t say “new” but, if you click on it, there is something new there.

It’s as if I was dating the hottest girl and then discovered she was wearing a wig and fake boobs and was actually a man.

They heard me!

Well, maybe. Not sure if the problem is fixed, but they did confirm that our love is mutual (see new logo below);
