It has been a long time coming, but it is time for another installment of killer tunes from talented (& generous) dudes. This edition is a bit of grab bag of tunes that I have been feeling over the past couple of months, perfect to set you up for & get you through the weekend.

Usually Free Music Friday is a random collection of tunes that are thrown together from all over the show, this time round though we have a very special edition.
I am sure I don’t need to say anything to hype either of these acts. One of the greatest musical hip hop acts of all time, The Roots, paying tribute by covering some of the biggest hits from the late great J Dilla.
There is no question that this should be in your collection, get amongst.
It’s been a wee while since I have put together a free music Friday, but it was not for lack of selection. As usual there is some amazing music being released for free by some equally amazing (and generous) artists. Implex & Enei – Grey December

Implex & Enei are part of the Russian invasion that is currently taking on drum & bass. Their LP Sublife has just been released, and they have put out these two tracks as a little sampler for the album. Nice deep dancefloor vibes on these ones. Both are good, but my pick is Grey December. You can catch an interview with the pair, along with a special guest mix over at Knowledge Mag. The LP is well worth checking too.

RQ_ is an awesomely talented guy making music right here in little old NZ. He has been releasing a whole lot of stuff for free lately, so definitely worth checking his SoundCloud. This is a lovely little jazzy atmospheric number with a cool old school vibe.
