I am about to head off on a big adventure, riding the trails of the North Shore of British Columbia, Canada for the next 5 weeks. The plan is to spend almost every day on my bike, so my updates might be a little sporadic over the coming weeks. If you are interested in what I am up to the best bet is to keep an eye on flickr or follow me on twitter.

To say I am excited about this trip would be a massive understatement.

Twitter stream wordle for Phixx

This is a Wordle. In fact, this is my Wordle. At least, it is a Wordle of my most commonly used words on Twitter. The bigger the word, the more often I use it.

There isn’t really any point to it, but in making it I discovered something that I thought was interesting. The words I use commonly are by and large positive.

Because I spend some of my professional time on Twitter (as @Orcon) dealing with customer complaints I think it is easy to forget that there are a lot of people (like me wearing my @phixx hat) for whom Twitter is about sharing what is awesome (yeah, I say awesome a lot).

Isn’t that cool?

You can also make your own Wordle if you are so inclined.

Duncan Blair's Internet persona

I find the Persona’s project really fascinating. It takes your name, scours the web, and then tries to fit the information it finds into a predetermined set of categories to create a snapshot of who the Internet thinks you are. I have to admit to being semi-obsessed with the whole concept of what the Internet knows about people, and find the thought that you can find out interesting stuff about almost anyone now with a quick search simultaneously incredible and frightening. So I think this is pretty cool.

Not sure about the big chunks of politics, military, and genealogy in mine. Guess there is another Duncan Blair somewhere in the world fighting in a political war while simultaneously trying to piece together their family tree.

Via one of my new favourite blogs Infosthetics. Pretty, digestible data – awesome.
