Trilogy
Trilogy is a new collaborative music project of one of my favourite Frenchmen Redeyes, teaming up with Youthman and Luce. As well as producing some beautiful music they have just banged out this killer mixtape.

Continuing with my current appetite for variety this is a multi-genre masterpiece, with a bit of downbeat, funk, hip hop, dubstep, house and not-quite-sure-what-to-call-it-but-it’s-awesome. Just in time for your sunny summer road trip.

Even if you don’t download the mix you should definitely check this tune – Brother Don’t Cry. If you like stuff from people like Cinematic Orchestra, 4Hero, and Kinobe then I am sure that you will dig.

redeyes

Summer is definitely on its way here in New Zealand with the arrival over the weekend of daylight savings, and the sun making a welcome appearance on a more regular basis. Accordingly, September’s mix of the month from Redeyes is definitely one for a sunny afternoon sitting by the pool, barbecue cranking, and beer in hand.

While the Frenchman is better known for his drum and bass production he also has impeccable taste in hip hop and downbeat. This is one of several of such mixtapes that are constantly on high rotate for me.

An eclectic selection of 90-ish bpm goodness that is billed as ‘the ultimate love and hope mixtape’. I am certainly not going to argue with that.

Redeyes flyer

This week sees the return of suave Frenchman Redeyes to New Zealand shores. I am playing support for what is going to be an awesome (free!) gig down at the Carpark on Thursday night. Last time he came down Carpark was packed to capacity, and Redeyes rolled out an awesome set of beautiful liquid drum and bass.

For anyone wondering what to expect check out this Redeyes live set from Club Culture in Bangkok last year, or the Vandal podcast he also recorded last year.

Also, check out the interview I did with him a few weeks back ahead of the tour.

Bonus: Redeyes has just recorded another super tasty hip hop mixtape “I love hip hop“. Get it here [right click, save as].
